LEA/Data Committee

Committee Goals/Mission
The LEA/Data Committee reviews changes in pupil accounting and data reporting rules to keep MPAAA members informed and prepared. Chaired by the MPAAA LEA and Data Representatives, the committee serves as a liaison between local, ISD, and state data professionals, supporting training efforts, promoting data quality, and sharing timely updates that impact compliance and reporting.
Mission:
To connect and support Michigan’s data and pupil accounting professionals through collaboration, timely guidance, and best practices that strengthen data quality and promote student-centered reporting.
Goals:
- Share updates on policy and reporting changes
- Support MPAAA training and professional learning
- Promote clear, consistent data practices
- Foster collaboration across LEAs, ISDs, and the state
- Represent member interests to the MPAAA Board

Meeting Schedule
The LEA/Data Committee currently meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Member Expectations
Volunteer committee members help advance the mission of supporting Michigan’s pupil accounting and data professionals by contributing time, insight, and collaboration. While not required to fulfill formal duties, members are encouraged to:
Stay Informed - Review state updates (e.g., CEPI communications, Pupil Accounting Manual changes) and be ready to discuss their impact on local practices.
Participate Actively - Attend committee meetings regularly, contribute to discussions, and engage respectfully with peers from districts and ISDs across the state.
Share Local Perspectives - Offer insights on how state-level changes affect your district or region, helping the committee understand diverse implementation challenges.
Support Knowledge Sharing - Bring relevant questions, resources, or examples from your district to enrich committee dialogue and promote shared learning.
Promote Best Practices - Help surface and spread consistent, high-quality data and reporting practices aligned with MPAAA training and state guidance.
Serve as a Connector - Communicate committee takeaways with colleagues in your region or functional area, helping extend the committee’s impact.
