Committee Goals/Mission

The Finance Committee plays a vital role in ensuring the financial stability, transparency, and sustainability of MPAAA. Meeting monthly, this committee is committed to maintaining strong internal controls, aligning financial planning with strategic goals, and supporting the long-term health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Budget Development and Oversight - Each year, the Finance Committee collaborates closely with the Executive Director to develop an annual budget that supports MPAAA’s strategic direction. Budget planning begins in the final quarter to ensure we are well-prepared for the upcoming fiscal cycle.
2. Ongoing Budget Monitoring - The committee reviews financial performance throughout the year. A formal mid-year budget review compares actual spending to projections, allowing the committee to recommend adjustments if needed.
3. Promoting Transparency and Accountability - To uphold best practices, the committee works with MPAAA staff to evaluate financial procedures and internal controls. Recommendations for improvement are brought back to the committee for discussion and implementation.
4. Monthly Financial Review - With board meetings held in the third week of each month, committee members review financial documents in advance. This allows time to ask questions, clarify details, and ensure committee alignment before presenting updates to the full board.
5. Profit & Loss Analysis - Regular monitoring of profit and loss trends helps the committee stay proactive. While MPAAA has remained financially stable, this analysis supports ongoing sustainability and informed decision-making.
