  • Human Trafficking Training - Speaker:  Special Agent Jeremy Ashcroft FBI, Human trafficking case studies and warning signs.

  1. Human Trafficking - Speaker: Liz Montemayor, CPS Section Manager, Ingham County, MDHHS, The trafficking of minors in Ingham County.
  2. Ingham County Truancy Court Programs - Speakers:  Megan Mertens, Chief Juvenile Attorney Referee and Kristen Kirsch, Senior Juvenile Court Officer, Ingham County Circuit Court, Outline of the Truancy Court Program.

  1. Eaton County Truancy Intervention Program - Speaker: Kim Thalison, Prevention Services Supervisor, Eaton RESA - Overview of Eaton County's Truancy Intervention Program
  2. Truancy in Cyber Schools - Jenny Lawson, Michigan Connections Academy - How does the Compulsory Attendance and Truancy Laws affect cyber schools and how do cyber schools address truancy?
  3. Truancy: The Mental Health Factor - Speaker: Stephvanie Wynn, Attendance Success Coach, Redford Union Schools - Discussion of mental health issues that play a part in truancy.

2:00 - 3:00  General Session

  • Truancy 101 Speaker: Carolyn Claerhout, Oakland ISD - Review of compulsory school attendance laws and the new focus on chronic absenteeism.  Additionally, updates on current legislation regarding truancy and attendance.
