MDE has just announced that CEPI will have a new collection this summer, called the Third Grade Retention Collection. This collection will be within the MSDS system and will be open this summer through the end of August.
The collection will be for any student who tests more than one year behind on the Third Grade ELA M-STEP. CEPI will notify parents of these students, and schools are required to retain these students in third grade unless one of several good cause exemptions apply. Student's preliminary scores will be available on the OEAA Secure Site within 1-2 days of the student completing the test.
The collection has four components in it: The standard three to identify the student (Personal Core, School Demographics, and Submitting Entity) as well as the new Third Grade Retention Decision component.
The Retention Decision Component has two characteristics: A question on if the student was retained or promoted, and, if the student WAS promoted, a second characteristic that asks which of the listed good cause exemptions applied to allow the promotion.
You can review the communication from MDE by clicking HERE, and CEPI has updated their collection details manual, which you can reach HERE. As specific dates and further details become known, we'll be sure to spread the word.
For those of you who were wanting to see the agenda and session descriptions for the upcoming MPAAA Spring Conference, that document is now available, either on the conference registration page of our website or directly by clicking HERE.
Please keep in mind that the conference is still two months away. While we try VERY hard to make sure our agendas don't change, life does happen, so please keep in mind that this agenda may still change between now and May.
For those that have already registered, we'll send out a survey in early April so you can choose the sessions you would prefer to attend.
The 2020 MPAAA Salary Survey has been compiled and is available on the MPAAA website to our members. Current MPAAA members can open the survey directly by clicking HERE.
We had 300 members complete the survey, and the 140-page report sorts them by job function, as well as by regions of the state. As always, anonymity is well respected, and I hope you'll find this year's survey report a valuable tool in understanding how you fit into the salary and benefit schemes in your work and your area.
Description & Overview
MPAAA is proud to open registration for our 2020 Spring Conference, being held May 4-6 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City.
The Conference schedule has something to offer everyone working in Michigan's public education system! We have sessions designed for those new to the world of pupil accounting and data management as well as sessions for veterans. Once again, we have invited student information system vendors as well as school supplies vendors and a few specialty vendors. This quote from a previous conference attendee says it all, "As always, the conference was very well planned and the speakers very well prepared." We look forward to seeing you at this year’s conference!
A new series of training sessions available this spring is our SIS-specific classes. These sessions cover pupil accounting issues specific to each of the five primary Student Information Systems used in Michigan. Users of PowerSchool, Synergy, MiStar, Skyward, and Infinite Campus will want to attend the session for their particular software.
Various speakers from around the state will share their expertise with attendees, as well as our partners with the various State agencies that deal with Pupil Accounting
