Description & Overview

MPAAA proudly offers its membership the annual Upper Peninsula Fall Conference, at Mission Point on Mackinac Island. With the pace at which change is occurring, this conference provides valuable information for everyone working with Pupil Accounting, Pupil Auditing, and Educational Data.

The educational system in Michigan is changing at an astounding pace. In the coming school year, we will see changes in throughout our operations. From Section 25 (aka, ‘the money following the student”) to the addition of more cyber schools and virtual offerings, we see, firsthand how different our workplace may look. MPAAA seeks to continue its effort to be your primary ‘go-to’ resource regarding school funding and the legislation pertaining to school operations and funding. Our conferences are designed to assist anyone working with student data, school funding, enrollment and membership requirements, and auditing. The one thing we can assure you whether you attend the Fall conference in Lansing or on Mackinac Island, this conference is not to be missed!

A session of particular interest to the auditing community will be the Pupil Membership Auditing Manual (PMAM) update with MDE's Office of Audits.  This session, which is for auditors only, will give auditors the chance to discuss the changes made in the 18/19 PMAM, and have a voice in changes for this coming year. If your role is as an ISD auditor, this is a must-attend session for you!

Various speakers from around the state (including CEPI, MDE, etc.) and local school districts will be in attendance. Scheduled speakers can be found on the posted agenda, which can be accessed via the events downloads.

Hotel Information:

This conference will be held at the Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Island, MI. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at (800) 833-7711. Please identify yourself with Michigan Pupil Accounting and Attendance Association to receive the group rate. You can also register online by clicking HERE.

One final note for those interested in attending the Upper Peninsula session. To make registration and payment for the conference more manageable, we will be including the cost of the ferry ride (round trip on Shepler's Ferry service) and taxi service out to the Resort, as well as your luggage transfer fees, into the cost of registration. You will have to pay for your parking at your departure dock.  Hopefully, this will make the process a bit easier for attendees. You'll choose the city you wish to depart from (Mackinaw City or St. Ignace) as you register and your tickets will be available at the dock.
