MPAAA will host its 2019 Attendance and Truancy Workshop on Thursday, March 14th at Lansing Community College's West Campus in Lansing MI. The Workshop is intended for School, ISD, county court staff and officials with an interest in Attendance and Truancy programs and regulations. This one-day workshop will run from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Our Keynote speaker for 2019 is Ann Adalist-Estrin, the Director of the National Resource Center on Children and Families of the Incarcerated at Rutgers University.  Ann will be speaking on the topic of Children of Incarcerated Parents.

In addition, we'll have breakout sessions during the day with speakers from school districts, cyber schools, and county court systems as well as DHHS staff discussing their programs and offering best practices tips to attendees.

The final session of the day will be Truancy 101 with Carolyn Claerhout, J.D., with Oakland Schools. Carolyn will review the current compulsory attendance laws and discuss the recent changes to federally-defined chronic absenteeism. Carolyn will also update attendees on past and potential changes in truancy legislation.

Lansing Community College's West Campus is located at 5708 Cornerstone Drive, in Lansing. The Workshop will cost $139.00 for current MPAAA members. Registration fees for non-members are $190.
