Description & Overview

After a 2-year hiatus, MPAAA proudly offers its membership the 2018 Fall Upper Peninsula Fall. With all the changes expected in the next year, this conference provides valuable information for everyone involved in Pupil Accounting, Pupil Auditing, and Educational Data!

The educational system in Michigan is changing at an astounding pace. In the coming school year, we will see changes throughout our systems. From Section 25 (aka, ‘the money following the student”) to the addition of more cyber schools and virtual offerings, we are seeing, firsthand, how different our workplace may look. MPAAA seeks to continue its effort to be your primary ‘go-to’ resource regarding pupil accounting and the legislation pertaining to school funding. Our conferences are designed to assist anyone working with student data, school funding, enrollment and membership requirements, and auditing. The one thing we can assure you, this conference is not to be missed!

For our 2018 conference, our Upper Peninsula conference will be 1 & 1/2 days long and will offer the vast majority of the courses offered in the Bay City conference, to ensure our UP members are as prepared for the challenges of the coming year as possible.

In 2016 we began our partnership with MSBO and held MSBO-only certification classes at our fall conference. We're pleased to renew that partnership with three new, never-before-offered certification courses. Team Leadership, Effective Communications, and Principals of Education are courses that up to now had ONLY been available at MSBO conferences. These three classes are available for you this fall as part of your registration.

Various speakers from around the state (including CEPI, MDE, etc.) and local school districts and ISDs will be sharing their expertise with attendees. Scheduled speakers can be found on the agenda below.

Hotel Information:

The Upper Peninsula Conference will be held Monday and Tuesday, September 24 and 25, at the Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island. You can get the discounted rate of $149 per night by calling 800.833.7711 and referring to 'Michigan Pupil Accounting.'

One final note for those interested in attending the Upper Peninsula session. To make registration and payment for the conference more manageable, we will be including the cost of the ferry ride (round trip on Shepler's Ferry service) and taxi service out to the Resort, as well as your luggage transfer fees, into the cost of registration. You will have to pay for your parking at your departure dock.  Hopefully, this will make the process a bit easier for attendees. You'll choose the city you wish to depart from (Mackinaw City or St. Ignace) as you register and your tickets will be available at the dock.
