Description & Overview

MPAAA proudly offers its membership the annual Lower Peninsula Fall Conference, on September 17th and 18th, at the DoubleTree Riverside hotel in Bay City. With all the changes expected in the new year, this conference provides valuable information for everyone involved in Pupil Accounting, Pupil Auditing, and Educational Data!

The educational system in Michigan is changing at an astounding pace. In the coming school year, we will see changes throughout our systems. From Section 25 (aka, ‘the money following the student”) to the addition of more cyber schools and virtual offerings, we are seeing, firsthand, how different our workplace may look. MPAAA seeks to continue its effort to be your primary ‘go-to’ resource regarding pupil accounting and the legislation pertaining to school funding. Our conferences are designed to assist anyone working with student data, school funding, enrollment and membership requirements, and auditing. The one thing we can assure you, this conference is not to be missed!

For our 2018 conference, we've compressed our schedule into two full days, instead of the 2 & 1/2-day format of previous years. This allows members to minimize the time they are away from the office during this critical time of year.

In 2016 we began our partnership with MSBO and held MSBO-only certification classes at our fall conference. We're pleased to renew that partnership with three new, never-before-offered certification courses. Team Leadership, Effective Communications, and Principals of Education are courses that up to now had ONLY been available at MSBO conferences. These three classes are available for you this fall as part of your registration.



Various speakers from around the state (including CEPI, MDE, etc.) and local school districts and ISDs will be sharing their expertise with attendees. Scheduled speakers can be found on the agenda below.


Hotel Information:

This conference will be held at the DoubleTree Riverside hotel in Bay City. Reservations can be made by calling the reservations line at 800.222.8733 and using code MPAAA to get the discounted rate of $119 per night.

In the event the DoubleTree is full, we do have alternate arrangements at the Comfort Inn, which is right across the street from the DoubleTree. Call 989-892-3501, and they should have the room block under MPAAA.


General Information

Conference registrations include breakfast and lunch both Monday and Tuesday. Registration fees are $395 for MPAAA members and $550 for non-members. Session and other presenter materials will be posted on the MPAAA website in advance of the conference. Attendees are welcome to print the materials ahead of time for the sessions which they are planning to attend. Please visit and click on the conferences link for details. Also, please see the MPAAA website to submit questions to session presenters in advance. Submitting questions in advance will help our presenter’s research your specific question before the conference.  On-site walk-ins incur an additional $25 fee to attend. 


Cancellation Policy & Contact Information

Members and guests will be accessed a cancellation fee of $100 event registrations cancelled up to August 20th. There will be no refunds for cancellations occurring after August 20th.

Please contact our Executive Director to request cancellation of a workshop or conference which you are registered, or for any other event / MPAAA related question.
