Description & Overview

The Annual MPAAA Spring Conference schedule has something to offer everyone working in Michigan's public education system! We have sessions designed for those new to the world of pupil accounting and data management as well as sessions for veterans. To make it easier to select your session, we've added tracks to the agenda, so you can see the specific group(s) being targeted with this particular session.

There are many new session this spring, on topics ranging from how to use Microsoft Access to training on how to respond to a data breach within your data systems. Certification courses are offered throughout the conference for those working towards their MSBO certification, and SCECH credits will be granted to those certificated staff requiring them.

Once again, we have invited student information system vendors as well as school supplies vendors and a few specialty vendors. This quote from a previous conference attendee says it all, "As always, the conference was very well planned and the speakers very well prepared." We look forward to seeing you at this year’s conference!

The educational system in Michigan is changing at an astounding pace. In the coming school year, we will see changes in throughout our systems. From Section 25 (aka, "the money following the student”) to the addition of more cyber schools, early middle colleges, and virtual offerings, we are seeing firsthand how different our workplace has become.

MPAAA strives to continue its effort to be your primary ‘go-to’ resource regarding school funding and the legislation pertaining to school operations and funding. Our conferences are designed to assist anyone working with student data, school funding, enrollment and membership requirements, and auditing. The one thing we can assure you, this conference is not to be missed!


Various speakers from around the state (including CEPI, MDE etc.) and local school districts will be presenting. In addition, we are proud to welcome Ross Lemke, with the US Department of Education's Privacy Technical Assistance Center. Ross will be speaking on FERPA, data security, and privacy issues.

Hotel Information:

Attendees are welcome to stay at Grand Traverse and can make their reservations by calling (800) 968-7352 and using the group code MPA0517 to reserve their rooms at the discounted rate of $130 per night for the hotel, and $155 for rooms in the Tower. General Information

The conference includes Breakfast and Lunch on Monday and Tuesday and Breakfast only on Wednesday. Session and other presenter materials will be posted on the MPAAA website in advance of the conference and an attendee email will be sent to notify you when the information is posted. Attendees are welcome to print the materials ahead of time for the sessions which you plan to attend. Please visit and click on the conference center link for conference links and details. Submitting questions in advance will help our presenter’s research your specific question prior to the conference.  On-site walk-ins incur an additional $25 fee to attend.

Thye cost of the conference is the same as 2016. Members pay $375, and non-members pay $445.  Anyone who registers by March 31 will receive a $50 early-bird discount!

Cancellation Policy & Contact Information

Members and guests will be accessed a cancellation fee of $100 for event registrations canceled on or before April 17, 2017. There will be no refunds for cancellations occurring after April 17.
